Showhouse Images...It's The Best I Could Do For Now;)

I know, I know Michael Lee says if you simply work your composition you can take great photos with even a phone camera...well, Red Rover, Red Rover send Mr Lee right over cuz it's just not working for me!  Maybe, HE can take great photos with HIS phone but as for me, not so much...obviously.  Eddie Ross takes amazing photos and I read Tobi Fairley's post last week on her Showhouse project and her photos look terrific as well (by the way, if you have not listened to the Skirted Roundtable interview with Ms Fairley, click here, it's a MUST)...not sure what to make of my poor photography skills but until I have proper photos, here are a few images, per your request, of the first of two spaces I created for the Florida Orchestra Showhouse at The Ovation in Downtown St Petersburg...hopefully this is not career suicide;)

This space is a little nook in an otherwise light filled high rise condo on the 21st floor of a beautiful modern building named The Ovation.  My mission was to create a cozy little space that one could retreat to when in need of a bit of an escape.  I love multi purpose rooms and purposely used a 30" high table (a vintage Mastercraft table from the 70's) floating in front of the Michael Vanderbyl sofa so the space could not only be used as a library but also for an intimate dinner from time to time. There is a global feel and just the slightest reference to the "New Victorian" aesthetic with the use of brass components, the vintage factory stool and collection of natural curiosities used throughout.

All of the pieces I used are from independently owned, Tampa Bay businesses, including Doxa Home as well as several boutiques, vintage shops and antique stores.  I did not use any COM and EVERY item used was "As Is" and not one piece custom ordered, with the exception of the hand painted damask pattern on the walls which were graciously done by Splat Paint.  We are not located in a major metropolitan area however we do have several charming shops and I wanted to highlight the local businesses we do have here and what could be done with in stock inventory.

Well, I'll post the other space later this week, hope you enjoyed, I am sure I will hear about it either way;)  Besos, thanks!

I applaud you over & over for your objectives for this space. To utilize local shop-owners is a benefit to your whole community of business owners. For those that were visiting the Showhouse an inspiration to what they can achieve shopping close to home. I have long wanted to utilize a comfy sofa with a dining height table. From the subtle stenciled walls to the brass to the gold splattered CH rug, it all creates a space to definitely retreat to. It bears repeating that you are one killer designer Jamie dearest (& your photog abilities ain't bad either!). xoxo

I think it looks great. And, photos aren't bad. I think it's really hard too. I've been thinking I need to take a class or something. Hope you are having a good week.
