One of the hot design directions for 2010, listed by House Beautiful, and evident to anyone wandering through a trade show or dining in a myriad of hot NYC eateries is the New Victorian/Steampunk aesthetic. Personally, I love this look as it personifies the DOXA approach which is Classic Design with a Modern Sensibility. As you will see the New Victorian aesthetic can range from rustic to polished, but always collected. There is a focus on dark atmospheric tones, iron, wood and brass components, recycled mechanical pieces (representative of the turn of the century machine age) as well as an apparent appreciation for natural "curiosities" and of course the iconic Edison bulb. This post features several different approaches to this aesthetic and DOXA Home has introduced 60 pieces which are representative of The New Victorian. Through February 9th we will be offering 15% off all pieces in the New Victorian Collection, simply enter the code STEAM upon checkout for discount to be applied . I hope you enjoy the ride~

love your items. esp. that bulb pendant. want!!!!!
i am all for this look, so much if it in my house already.
I'm on the Victorian bandwagon. My first thought purely from the word was, not in my lifetime; boy was I under the wrong impression. I am intrigued by the moodiness, unexpected aspect to it; Sherlock Holmes vs. Darwin. Your pieces @ DOXA are top-notch. You've hit the aesthetic feel right on. You amaze me Jamie !

I thought that the HB categories were interesting - mainly because I didn't relate to any of them! Well, to be more precise, I related to aspects of all of them, but not to any one category. I love these pictures you picked to illustrate the new Victorian, though!
Thank you for your nice comment today, and for putting Quatrefoil Design on your recommended links!
What a great post! Love your lighting fixtures the best. Thanks for the discount too.
